Welcome
to the official headquarters of my campaign for Raleigh City Council at
Large. While my campaign began because I wanted to document the process
of running for office, I also really believe that a young progressive
voice needs to be heard in Raleigh's city government. I can be that voice.
If we want to have any control over the shape this growing city takes
on in the years to come the time to make our presence known is now.
A bit about myself: I
am 28 years old, and I've lived in Raleigh for 20 years - 11 of them inside
the beltline. In 1998 I graduated from NC State University with an BFA
in English. I worked for two years at The Spectator and currently write
for Lather Magazine. I began bartending in downtown Raleigh six years
ago to supplement my income. If anyone wants to say hello, I can be found
every Tuesday and Friday behind the bar at Humble Pie, 317 S. Harrington
St.
My experience in the service
industry and as a writer for local arts and entertainment publications
has allowed me to meet and talk to a lot of different kinds of people
who have progressive political leanings and a vested interest in the way

this
city grows and changes. All of whom deserve to be represented on the
City Council.
I hope that the success of my
campaign will encourage others to run for elected offices.Running a
campaign is typically very expensive. Mine will be cheap. I do not want
to ask people for support in the form of money nor do I want to waste
tens of thousands of dollars that could be better spent elsewhere. I
do want to encourage anyone who likes what they see on this website
to download a flyer, subscribe
to my newsletter and to forward this URL to anyone they know who
might be interested in learning about my candidacy.
Thanks for visiting
and thanks for your help.
